Ikeme celebrates Wolverhampton promotion to EPL

Super Eagles and Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme, has congratulated his teammates for earning a promotion back to the English Premier League.

The Championship leaders confirmed their return to the top flight after third-placed Fulham drew at home to Brentford last weekend, having stayed six years under relegation.

Ikeme, the team’s first choice goalie before being diagnosed with an acute Leukemia last July, took to his Instagram to celebrate the feat despite not being part of the journey.

“Congratulations to everyone involved with our great club. The hard work, loyalty and togetherness is something to savour,” The 31-year old wrote on his page.

Wolves would later defeat Birmingham City 2-0 a day after, to stand with 94 points – 12 points clear of second placed Cardiff who have a game in hand.

Ikeme helped Nigeria kick off their qualification journey to the 2018 World Cup in a good note, but will not be with the team at the finals in Russia this summer.
