Argentine superstar, Lionel Messi scored twice as Spanish giants, Barcelona thrashed Celta Vigo 5-0 on Thursday night to reach the Copa del Rey quarter-finals.
The title holders had drawn the first leg 1-1 last week with a weakened squad, but named a stronger line-up for the home game to win 6-1 on aggregate.
Messi swept in twice from Jordi Alba crosses to put the host ahead just 15 minutes into the game.
The Argentine then set up Alba with a sublime pass to slide home their third goal, before Luis Suarez scored from Celta defender’s poor back-pass before the break.
Ivan Rakitic headed the fifth goal late in the game to round off the five-star performance of Ernesto Varvelde’s side.
Also in the last eight of the Copa del Rey are Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Leganes, Alaves, Espanyol and Sevilla.
