D’Tigers kick off World Cup qualifying campaign with win over Uganda
Nigeria’s men’s senior basketball team D’Tigers kick-started their 2019 FIBA World Cup African qualifiers with a convincing 102-86 victory over Uganda on Friday.
The 2017 AfroBasket finalists were trailing the Ugandans after the first quarter which ended 17-11, but got right back into the game as they piled pressure on the Ugandans to win the second quarter 25-12 points.
Leading 36-29 points from the first half, D’Tigers continued to dominate the game by winning the third quarter 28-20, to take the result to 64-49 points going into the last quarter.

Nigeria, with Michael Efevberha, Ike Diogu and Benjamin Uzor starring in the game, did not relent in their effort; they went on to win 27-20 points in the fourth quarter, as the game ended 102-86 points against Uganda.
The team will face Rwanda on Saturday in their next qualifier.
