1. IPOB jeopardizing chances of South-East 2023 presidency —Balarabe Musa

Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Balarabe Musa, has condemned recent activities of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). He said the group has started to breed enemies for the South-East and making the support for the region to produce the president in 2023 difficult.

2. We’ll be constructing 1m houses every year —Nigerian Govt promises

The Nigerian Government has promised that it would be constructing one million housing units per year to close the gap of 17 million to 20 million housing deficits by the year 2033. This promise was made by the Minister of State, Works and Housing, Abubakar Aliyu on Saturday in Abuja, when he inspected the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) mass housing project in Zuba, Federal Capital Territory.

The Presidency has clarified the roles of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha under the President’s second term. Buhari’s spokesman, Garba Shehu, in a statement released Saturday night and entitled: “Statement on the roles of Chief of Staff (COS) and SGF’, explained that the roles of the two principal officers to the President, remains the same as it was in Buhari’s first term in office.

4. We’re not under pressure to counter PDP’s petition at the election tribunal —Gov Ganduje

Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, has declared that the suit filed against his victory at the last governorship election by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is weighed down by the burden of proof. Reacting on behalf of Gov. Ganduje, his counsel, Ibrahim Muktar, revealed to newsmen that their camp was not under any pressure to counter allegations filed by the governorship candidate of the PDP, Abba Kabiru Yusuf.

5. KOGI: PDP claims Tribunal sacked Sen Melaye for ‘a pot of porridge

The Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has kicked against the nullification of the election of Senator Dino Melaye (PDP- Kogi West) by a tribunal which sat on Friday in Abuja. The party made its view on the matter known in a statement signed by Bode Ogunmola, spokesman for the party in the state, on Saturday, where he said that the tribunal murdered justice and democracy by sacking Melaye for what he described as “a pot of porridge”, noting that justice would be done in the appeal court.

6. Gov Zulum blames Boko Haram insurgency on porous borders, illiteracy

Borno State governor, Babagana Zulum, on Sunday blamed the ongoing Boko Haram insurgency in his state on porous borders linking Nigeria with neighbouring Chad, Cameroun and Niger republics. The governor made the assertion during his interactions with some newsmen in Abuja after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari over the security situation in the state.

10. 1,000 students threaten court action against Oyo poly

No fewer than 1,000 former students of the Adesun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa in Oyo State, on Sunday, threatened to sue the management of the institution for failure to issue their results two years after graduation. The students said the institution’s management had held their two years efforts in futility after payment of huge amount of money to them.
