The travails of the chairman and CEO of Air Peace, Allen Onyema over an alleged $20 million fraud in the United States seems far from over. More authorities are getting involved in the case, as the Canadian authorities in line with an existing agreement with the US have set in motion, mechanisms to have the Nigerian businessman arrested. This is even as Nigeria’s anti-corruption agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has reportedly set up a panel to investigate the financial activities of Onyema, based on his indictment by the US Justice Department.

Onyema was indicted alongside the international airline’s Chief of Administration and Finance, Ejiroghene Eghagha, by the US Department of Justice (DoJ) of “moving more than $20 million from Nigeria through some United States banks in a scheme involving false documents based on the purchase of airplanes.” Read more

President Muhammadu Buhari Sunday ordered security agents to fish out those behind the murder of Mrs. Achejuh Abuh, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Women Leader in Kogi State. President Buhari said the “evildoers” must be brought to justice irrespective of their political allegiance.

The president in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, in Abuja, said he was expecting thorough investigation into the heinous murder of the woman, who was a member of Wada/Aro campaign council in last week’s governorship election in Kogi State. Read more

5. Melaye says he’ll take part in Kogi supplementary poll

Senator Dino Melaye has said he would take part in the supplementary election for Kogi West senatorial district slated for November 30. This position is a shift from his party’s (PDP) which hinted at a likely boycott. Human and Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA), a civil society organisation, has said that the new rule by the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, on the management of recovered assets would promote corruption. Reacting to the rule which vests in the AGF, the exclusive power to manage all stolen assets recovered by anti-graft agencies, HEDA said it was tantamount to “pulling the carpet off the feet of anti-corruption agencies established by Acts of parliament.” Read more

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has vowed to frustrate the planned witches conference being organized by the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). The Enugu State Chairman of PFN, Bishop Godwin Madu, made the vow on Sunday in a statement, declaring that Enugu State is in serious danger if the proposed conference scheduled to hold this week is allowed.
