1. TRIBUNAL JUDGMENT: Presidency fumes at media report, says Buhari did not retract anything

The Presidency on Saturday condemned what it said was “a twisted story with malicious intent” which was published in a Nigerian Media platform on Saturday with the headline; “Tribunal: Buhari retracts, confesses he was under tension.” The report was taken from what the President said when he received the All Progressives Congress (APC) governors, who had come to felicitate with him at State House, Abuja on Friday. According to a statement on Saturday in Abuja, by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, the newspaper was being mischievous by trying to link up what the president said in an earlier statement (on the judgment) with his remarks during the Friday visit.

2. Buhari’s ex-minister, Alhassan decamps to PDP

Jummai Alhassan, a former Minister of Women Affairs has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from United Democratic Party (UDP). She announced her decision during a stakeholders meeting of UDP, held at her Jalingo residence. Alhassan, who is popularly known as Mama Taraba, contested in the 2019 governorship election on the platform of the UDP.

3. Nasarawa Gov donates N20m for establishment of engineering faculty at state university

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has donated N20 million Naira for the establishment of a Faculty of Engineering at the Nassarawa State University, Keffi. The money is to enable the take-off of the faculty in the 2020/2021 academic session.

4. Ogun guber tribunal brands APM’s petition ‘lazy, deficient and shallow’, upholds Gov Abiodun’s victory

The Ogun State governorship election petition tribunal has dismissed the petition filed by Adekunle Akinlade of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) challenging the election of Gov Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Akinlade had filed an application seeking to disqualify Governor Abiodun on the ground that he submitted false academic qualification. The chairman of the tribunal, Justice Yusuf Halilu, in a unanimous judgement on Saturday, said that the petition lacked merit, describing it as “lazy, deficient and shallow.”

5. Timi Alaibe drags PDP to court to cancel guber primary

A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, Timi Alaibe has approached a Federal High Court, Yenogoa to cancel the recently concluded governorship primary of the party in the state. Alaibe, who was one of the 21 aspirants that contested for the ticket of the PDP won by Senator Douye Diri, insisted that the primary was flawed and manipulated.

6. Tribunal orders election re-run in Abia State

A National Assembly and House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Umuahia, the Abia State capital on Friday ordered a rerun of Arochukwu State constituency seat. The three-man panel tribunal ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a rerun in the state constituency within ninety days.

7. NFIU debunks reports it requested bank accounts of NASS, Judiciary leaders

The Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) Saturday debunked reports in the media that it was investigating the bank accounts of the leaders of National Assembly and Judiciary.

NFIU said it did not request banks to provide details of such officials.

The agency’s Chief Media Analyst, Ahmed Dikko, in a statement, said the NFIU did not need to write banks to get details of accounts, as it already had access to the account details of all the principal officers of the National Assembly and the Judiciary.

8. Court stops APC from conducting fresh congresses in Rivers

A Rivers State High Court, sitting in Port Harcourt, has ordered the cancellation of fresh congresses ordered by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) until the determination of the suit on notice. Justice Ledam Nyordee gave the order in a suit brought by Ibrahim Umar and 22 others belonging to the Senator Magnus Abe faction of the APC in the state.

9. Nigerian govt orders arrest of suspect who stabbed neighbour for celebrating Buhari’s tribunal victory

The Federal Government has ordered security agencies to find the suspect who allegedly stabbed his neighbour, Elvis Omoiro, for celebrating the election tribunal victory of President Muhammadu Buhari. Omoiri, a supporter of All Progressives Congress (APC), was stabbed repeatedly following an argument that ensued between him and his alleged attacker, Best Uduophori, in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

10. Six killed as bandits attack Kaduna village

The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed an attack on Fadaman Rimi village, Chikun Local Government Area of the state, by some bandits. No fewer than six persons were reportedly killed in the attack which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, as the armed bandits, in tens, stormed the village with rifles and started shooting sporadically.
