1. APC chieftain accuses Oshiomhole of rigging Bayelsa gov’ship primaries for oil bloc

A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State, Chief Perekemo Kpodoh has alleged that the National leader of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, conspired with the leadership of the party in the state, to rig the recently held primaries in favour of a candidate who lacks capacity. Kpodoh who bared his thoughts in a statement issued on Saturday in Yenogoa, alleged that Oshiomhole was involved in shaddy and bias support for the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, whom he said promised the National Leader of the party fake oil blocs to ensure David Lyon emerges as the APC governorship candidate in the state.

2. XENOPHOBIA: Sanwo-Olu condemns reprisal attacks, says over 5,000 jobs lost in Lagos

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has condemned the attacks on malls following the xenophobic reprisals. The governor lamented that over 5,000 persons had lost their jobs to the protest against xenophobic attacks on Nigerians living in South Africa.

Nigerian Citizens Association in South Africa (NICASA) has expressed hope that the meeting between the Nigerian and South African Presidents, scheduled to hold in October, would bring lasting solutions to the recurrent xenophobic attacks. NICASA President, Ben Okoli, made this comment while speaking from Johannesburg, South Africa.

5. Tiv youths ask Taraba Assembly to impeach Ishaku over Tiv/Junkun conflict

For allegedly describing the Tiv people in Taraba State as ungrateful, the Tiv Youth Organisation has called on the Taraba State House of Assembly to immediately commence an impeachment process against the state governor, Darius Ishaku. The group made the call in a statement by its President General, Timothy Hembaor, adding that the call was as a result of what the group described as the “unguarded, inciting and unpatriotic statements” allegedly made by the governor during the security meeting between Benue and Taraba states.

The senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District of Ondo State, Nicholas Tofowomo, has reportedly suffered a bone fracture in a car accident on the Ilesha-Akure highway. Tofowomo, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

8. DELTA: Tribunal sacks Sen Manager, orders fresh election

The Delta State election petition tribunal, on Saturday nullified the elections of James Manager, representing Delta South at the National Assembly. The three man panel led by Justice C.O. Onyaebo, also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw the certificate of return issued to Senator Manager, and conduct a fresh election.

9. Women decry ‘wrongs’ done to them in South-East, and Nigerian politics

A group of women, under the aegis of South-East Female Political Leaders, has decried the perceived ‘wrongs’ women allegedly suffer in the region and in Nigeria. The group claimed that the menfolk have continued to relegate Nigerian women to the background in elective and appointive political positions.

10. Community policing to commence soon, IGP reveals

The Inspector-General of the Nigeria Police Force, Mohammed Adamu has revealed that the much talked about community policing would soon begin across the country. The IGP who revealed that much on Friday while addressing officers and men of the Nigeria Police during his visit to the Ogun state command in Abeokuta, the state capital, said the move was part of efforts towards reducing the gap between the police and the public.
