1. Buhari’s govt accuses El-Zakzaky of plans to Islamize Nigeria

The Nigerian government has alleged that the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, was being sponsored by Iran to forcefully turn Nigeria into an Islamic State. In a fresh process it filed on Wednesday before the Federal High Court, Abuja, FG claimed El-Zakzaky was plotting to replicate, in Nigeria, the 1979 violent revolution that led to the forceful takeover of power in Iran.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has promised that bigger suspects will soon be exposed in the course of investigations into the Nigeria-dominated list of about 80 people recently indicted for internet-related crimes by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The Ibadan Zonal Head of the EFCC, Friday Elebo, made the promise, on Wednesday, while speaking with journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, adding that the EFCC has commenced Investigation into Nigerians indicted by the FBI.

6. KOGI: APC clears Irukera for guber primary

The Director General of the Federal Competition and Consumers Protection Council, Babatunde Irukera has been cleared by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest the party’s governorship primary holding today in Kogi State. This was disclosed in a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu, in Abuja on Wednesday.

7. $1.5M BRIBE: Gov Emmanuel gives Barr Ekpenyong 7 days to prove allegation

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, has denied allegations that he bribed the tribunal chairman, Justice W.O. Akanbi to influence judgment in favour of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Obong Chris Ekpenyong in Akwa Ibom Northwest senatorial petition matter. The governor threatened to institute a legal action against Barr. Leo Ekpenyong, who made the allegation.

8. Police arrest three vigilantes for robbery, murder of OOU student

The Ogun State Police Command had arrested three members of a vigilance group for alleged armed robbery and killing of a 400 level student of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye. The suspects were alleged to have stormed a hotel in Ijebu Igbo area of the state where they robbed lodgers and left with two persons.

9. ICPC arrests suspect over N1.7bn fraud, rescues 14 female hostages

The National Coordinator of the Federal Civil Service Staff with Disabilities Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Iliasu Abdul-Rauf has been arrested by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over alleged N1.7 billion fraud. The ICPC operatives also freed 14 females locked in a room during a raid on a house belonging to the suspect.

10. Iwobi scores first Everton goal on full debut

Super Eagles forward, Alex Iwobi, has opened his goalscoring account with Everton in their 4-2 victory over Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night. Iwobi, who joined the Toffees at the start of the season from Arsenal, scored one of the two late goals that saw off the League One club in the second round of the competition.
