100 level UI law student jumps to death during show at her hall of residence

A 100 level female law student of the University of Ibadan identified as Miss Effiong Imarbong lost her life when she fell to her death during a show at her hall of residence after reportedly showing signs of restlessness.

According to a statement signed by Olatunji Oladejo, the institution’s Director of Public Communications, the law student died when she jumped from a dangerous position during the show and she gave up the ghost almost immediately.

The statement by Oladejo reads thus: “It is with deep regret that the management of the University of Ibadan announces the sudden death of Miss Effiong Deborah Imarbong, a 100 Level student in our Faculty of Law on Monday, May 1, 2017 at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.

“Her sudden death, however, remains a mystery. It is in the light of the above that the university management wishes to state that the cause(s) of her death are still being investigated by the appropriate authorities. Moreover, her parents had been duly contacted by the relevant key officers of the university on the loss.

“It is pertinent to state that by the tradition of the Queen Elizabeth II Hall where she was a resident, an event tagged ‘Freshers/Finalists’ Week’’ was organised by the hall’s Executive Council.

“Her colleagues reported that the deceased was seen at the hall cafeteria, the venue of the movie show.

“Furthermore, it was reported that she was seen at about 8.40pm. Thereafter, she received a telephone call from a fellow; she left the venue of the movie show to meet the caller. The fellow had been identified after her death by the Campus Security Service.”

Continuing, the statement also added that the deceased showed signs of hyperactivity and developed strange attitude after returning to the hall and left the venue after a wild dance.

“It was further revealed that she left the venue of the movie show and, thereafter, there was a bang, which her colleagues explained, she jumped from a dangerous position in the Hall. She was later found by her colleagues in a seemingly helpless condition in the precinct of the hall,” the statement said.

“When found by her colleagues, the deceased was rushed to the UCH where effort to safe her live proved futile,” Oladejo said.

All these useless shows or traditions are to be annulled in all higher institution in Nigeria. After all the shows are to descerate the lives of the students, so many of them will be raped or sleep with other men and lecturers that day.

Thank you Yanju. I remembered at Bayero Kano University then, there was a total ban of shows and all useless social gatherings until the useless satanic VC lifted the ban again. All these things are against the will of Allah. If they had stopped that in UI, that lady wouldn’t have died.

Aboki, secular life is different from religious life. You need to be social and mind you, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. There is no how they can cancel social activities in school.

Why will they cancel social activities all because of a particular student that dies it’s not possible because activities in school makes them wants to learn more and not to make them feel bad like they are in school to suffer after leaving there various home to study

The school authorities should hold the caller responsible for her death. when she left the venue of the movie show to meet the caller, she was not hyper, but she developed strange attitude after returning to the hall. The caller should be questioned thoroughly

It seems she was drugged where she went too. Only hard drugs can make a dull lady hyper in few minutes. Perhaps the person lured her into something her body system was not used to.

Will you all keep your mouths shut and let the outcome of the school’s investigation be known first. The caller may have called for another reason, without knowing anything about this sad incident.
