11 suspected abductors of Sierra Leone envoy arrested
At least 11 men suspected to behind the abduction of the Deputy High Commissioner of Sierra Leone to Nigeria, Major General Alfred Claude-Nelson have been arrested by the Nigerian Police Force.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Don Awunah, who presented the suspects to the public informed that they were arrested through a coordinated police operation.
“In a coordinated operation based on intelligence and technical support, the intelligence Response Team of the Nigeria Police has smashed an 11-man kidnap gang.
“This coordinated operation led to the arrest of 11 members of the notorious gang that has been terrorising the North Central states of the country,” he said.
Awunah also disclosed that as soon as investigations were concluded on the matter, the suspects would be charged to court.
On the 30th of June, Claude-Nelson was kidnapped along Kaduna-Abuja Road by suspected gunmen and freed on July 5.
