Sokoto State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mohammed Ali Iname, said on Wednesday at least 12 health workers had tested positive for COVID-19 in the state.

Iname, who is also the chairman of COVID-19 Task Force in the state, disclosed this at a press briefing shortly after the technical committee had briefed Governor Aminu Tambuwal on the pandemic situation in the state.

He said out of the 19 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Sokoto, 12 are health workers.

The commissioner said: “I know you are aware that we have 19 confirmed cases and out of this number majority are health workers that have been affected about 12 of them.”

He told journalists that the 19 confirmed cases are part of the 54 persons that had been tested for the disease in Sokoto State.
