The unusual happened in a village in India when a group of villagers where arrested and slapped with sedition charges for openly celebrating Pakistan’s cricket victory in a recently concluded Championship.
Reports say the men were arrested after locals complained that they shouted pro-Pakistan slogans and lit firecrackers after the championship match ended.
“We received a complaint from a local Hindu man who accused them of celebrating after India lost the match,” Burhanpur police chief Raja Ram Parihar said.
The men aged between 19 to 35 who were arrested in central Madhya Pradesh state’s Burhanpur district could be jailed for life if found guilty by Indian authorities.
