Rescue officials had a torrid time trying to recover bodies of drowned migrants in the Mediterranean as Italian coast guards were able to recover 16 bodies and another 2, 200 migrants who were luckily plucked to safety.
Coast Guard ships as well as fishing boats, merchant ships and vessels from humanitarian organisations took part in separate operations under direction of the Coast Guard command in Rome a statement revealed.
