At least 500 traders, buyers and residents may be trapped with millions of Naira properties destroyed if the 17 buildings identified to be defective buildings on Lagos Island eventually cave in.

The Association of Real Estate Developers of Lagos State said this after an on-the-spot- assessment of weak structures on Apongbon, Ebute-Ero axis of Lagos Island.

Sunday Telegraph gathered some of the identified distressed buildings are currently being occupied by traders with business activities going on in some of the buildings located in the area without adequate safety precautions.

While some of buildings are undergoing shoddy repairs without planning permit and adequate provision for safety precaution for buyers and traders who conduct businesses around them, others are left with cracks on the beams and walls.
