A search to uncover weaponry by Israeli army at the al-Fawwar refugee camp near Hebron has led to the killing of a 17-year-old Palestinian after an overnight confrontation in the occupied West Bank.
“Mohammed Abu Hashash, 17, died after he was shot in the chest during clashes with [Israeli forces] in the al-Fawwar camp,” a statement from the Palestinian health ministry said.
Red Crescent medics estimated that at least 40 Palestinians were wounded in the confrontation and according to witnesses, violence broke out when a large convoy of Israeli military vehicles entered the camp where about 10,000 Palestinians live.
The Israeli military did not confirm or deny casualties during the operation.
