A South Carolina man accused of trying to join the Islamic State group, ISIS as a 15-year-old in 2015 has been convicted by Federal prosecutors of plotting to kill American soldiers.

The convict, Zakaryia Abdin was also charged with attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State.

Abdin appeared before a federal court in Charleston, where he was tried, convicted and sent to jail.

Authorities say Abdin had schemed to rob a gun store and kill soldiers in revenge for American military action in the Middle East at the time.

Abdin was arrested by FBI agents before he could board an airplane at Charleston International Airport, South Carolina.
