18 feared dead in South Africa after bus collides with truck

A collision between a bus and a truck outside Machadodorp in Mpumalanga province, east of Johannesburg, has left no less than 18 people dead and left 12 others seriously injured.

Reports say when rescue operatives arrived the scene of the incident; they found the bus lying on its side, while the truck had come to a stop even as police revealed that 16 people died at the scene of the accident and two at hospital.

The incident is coming after a similar one in Germany 24 hours ago when 18 people were declared missing after a bus collided with a truck in the Bavarian town of Stammbach in southern Germany, before bursting into flames.

According to German police, the unaccounted victims after the bus crash are believed to have died as fire engulfed the vehicle.
