18-year-old in police custody for sexually molesting minor in Niger

An 18-year-old man identified as Idris Abdullahi has been arrested by the Niger State Police Command at Zagzaga area of Sarkin-Pawa in Munya Local Government Area of the state for allegedly molesting an underaged girl.

It was gathered in Minna on Thursday that Abdullahi allegedly took his 3-year-old victim to an uncompleted building and molested her before he was arrested following a report from the victim’s father, Abdullazizi Usman.

According to reports, the suspect who subsequently confessed to the crime, said he had been having sexual urges for a while but didn’t have a girlfriend to perform the act with, which prompted him to have sex with the three-year-old daughter of his neighbour.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar who confirmed the incident, urged parents to monitor the movements of their children, especially minors, to prevent them from falling into wrong hands.

He said the suspect would soon be charged to court.
