Some senior lawyers have cautioned the Federal Government against the withdrawal of $1 billion from the Excess Crude Account (ECA) to fund the war against the Boko Haram terrorist group without the approval of the National Assembly.

The lawyers, in separate phone interviews with Saturday Telegraph, said spending such huge funds without the approval of the lawmakers would be unconstitutional.

In his comments, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Seyi Sowemimo, said it is not enough for the Federal Government and governors to agree on how to spend the money.
