Father remanded in prison custody for defiling teenage daughters at knifepoint

A 20-year-old driver, Ismaila Bello has been ordered to be remanded in a Correctional facility by an Ado Ekiti Magistrate Court for allegedly killing a member the transporters’ union, Femi Ajayi.

Bello was said to have committed the offence in Igogo Ekiti, Moba Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court on Wednesday that the defendant committed the offence on September 25, 2019, over a N100 daily levy.

Akinwale stated: “The defendant, who is a driver, was given N100 daily ticket by the union. On his way back, he was asked to pay the money for the ticket but he refused.

“In the process, it resulted in a crisis and one of the members deflated his vehicle tyre, which angered him and he beat the deceased with a deadly charm. The deceased died in the process of being rushed to the hospital.”

The prosecutor added that the offence contravenes Section 319(1) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012, urging the court to remand the defendant in a correctional facility pending legal advice from office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The court did not take the plea of the defendant.
