Court unseats Anambra APC chairman

In apparent efforts to curtail influences governors Rochas Okorocha and Ibikunle Amosun may have on the leaders of the party in Imo and Ogun, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dissolved the executive committees in both states.

The dissolution came following the agreement said to have been reached during the National Working Committee (NWC) meeting of the party presided over by its national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, in Abuja on Tuesday.

The NWC resolved that it was going to inaugurate caretaker committees that would superintend over the affairs of the party in the two states ahead of the general elections.

Oshiomhole, after the meeting ended around 7pm, simply told newsmen who accosted him to find out the outcome of the meeting, that “The NPS (National Publicity Secretary) will brief you.”

He quickly entered his waiting vehicle and avoided further questiining from journalists who had patiently waited the whole day with hopes of being briefed after the meeting.

Meanwhile, the NPS, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, who Oshiomhole said would brief the newsmen, left the venue of the meeting before the national chairman.

Recall, that Okorocha, and Amosun, had vowed to ensure their anointed governorship candidates in opposition parties emerge winners of gubernatorial elections in their states.

Though the governors are still in the APC and are senatorial candidates under the party’s platform, their anointed candidates had dumped the ruling party after they failed to get the APC tickets.
