2019: APC takes final decision on direct primaries
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has finally resolved the issue of the type of primaries it is going to adopt in the selection of candidates for different political offices in the 2019 general elections.
There have been heated arguments whether the party should adopt direct or indirect primaries for the exercise.
However, at its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting which held on Thursday at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the ruling party resolved that it was going to adopt direct primaries for members contesting to become its presidential candidate and indirect primaries for other elective positions.

The party also said that any state willing to hold direct primaries depending on its peculiarities should inform the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.
