Atiku and his promise on restructuring

Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, on Saturday begged his people in the North-East to ensure the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is voted out in the 2019 general elections.

He made the plea while addressing his supporters during a reunion visit to Adamawa, his home state, asking the people of the state and the entire North-East to ensure APC is uprooted from the region.

He also at the meeting presented to the electorate Umaru Fintiri, the PDP governorship candidate for Adamawa.

“We thank God for this home coming which has afforded me the opportunity to make this reunion since my emergence as the Presidential candidate of the PDP. It is no longer news that I emerged the Presidential candidate of our party – the PDP at the Port Harcourt convention.

“It is not just my desire that the people of North East gain prominence again but it’s a sacred duty that the people must root out the APC completely from the bottom to the top.

“We have that chance to choose the PDP and be in front. I am a son of the North East, I have returned to thank the people of Adamawa and the entire North East, for our feat in Port Harcourt.

“I want to appeal that you vote out the APC from the region by ensuring that from the Presidency down to the states you elect only the PDP. From bottom to the top l want the PDP to be in control as far as this zone is concerned,” he said.

Meanwhile, Atiku also on Saturday said he was going to kick-start his campaign for 2019 general election through an address to Nigerians on Facebook on Monday.

He stated this in a statement issued by the Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation in Abuja.

The statement read in part, “In his address, the PDP presidential candidate will present his vision for Nigeria and his action plan to achieve it as encapsulated in his policy document.

“The intention is to take our policy directly to Nigerians and to register the belief of Abubakar that it will take the collective efforts of every Nigerian to rebuild the country.

“That is why we want Nigerians to access the policy directly and ultimately take ownership of it. We have chosen to do this by having the PDP Presidential candidate speaking directly to the Nigerian people on Facebook.

“This medium came about as part of the telecommunications revolution that he helped start as Vice President in 1999-2007.

“We have also chosen to have our candidate speak online as it facilitates the ability for anyone to download a copy of his policy document at no cost, as we intend this to be the policy of every Nigerian.

“Our policy document focuses on creating jobs, ensuring security, growing business, developing power and water infrastructure, agriculture and education and how we will empower women.

“Our policies outline the goals and methods for developing and revitalising Nigeria as the foundation of our campaign.

“This policy document is being launched to encourage a dialogue with the people of Nigeria, inviting everyone to join us in helping to get Nigeria working again.”
