INEC fixes Feb'16, 2019 for Nigerians to decide Buhari's fate

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Tuesday released the timetable for the 2019 general elections.

While briefing journalists, INEC said the presidential and National Assembly elections would hold same day on February 16, 2019.

Governorship and state assembly elections will also hold same day on March 2, two weeks after the presidential election, while elections into Abuja Area Councils would also hold on March 2, 2019.

The commission said primaries for presidential and National Assembly elections would commence on August 18, 2018.

Following primaries, campaigns would however only start formally on November 18, 2018, with those for governorship and state assemblies scheduled to commence on December 1, 2018.
