2019: Fani-Kayode envisages Buhari won’t step down if he loses, reveals what PDP’ll do to him

Former Minister of Aviation, and a chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Femi Fani-Kayode, has revealed what will happen to President Muhammadu Buhari if he loses the 2019 general election but refuses to step down.

He said the treatment will be like the one meted out to Laurent Gbagbo, former President of Côte d’Ivoire who ruled the country from 2000 until he was disgraced, booted out of office and arrested in April 2011, after he lost the country’s presidential election but refused to step down.

Fani-Kayode’s comment was in response to speculations by some Nigerians that President Buhari would sit tight even if he loses in the 2019 general elections.

The PDP chieftain wrote on his Twitter handle: “To those that boastfully proclaim that after @MBuhari has been defeated he will not step down for @atiku I say this: if he refuses to go we will march on the Villa, enter his bedroom, give him the Gbagbo treatment and send him to ICC to answer for his many crimes against humanity.”

Meanwhile, presidential candidate of the PDP, Abubakar Atiku, has revealed how he is going to fight corruption in Nigeria should he be elected President in 2019.

He wrote on his Twitter handle, “The most effective way to fight crime is to provide opportunity to create wealth, because poverty is conducive to crime. If you elect me as your President, I will equip the security forces to fight terrorism and crime. Additionally, I will do what I do best – job creation.”
