The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-East Monday took a decision endorsing the party’s zoning of the office of President to the North in the 2019 presidential election.

The South-East PDP also endorsed the zoning of the office of the party’s national chairman to the South.

These decisions were taken at the PDP South-East Zonal Executive Committee meeting held in Enugu.

In a communique released after the meeting, South-East PDP Vice Chairman, Austin Umahi, reiterated their “commitment to national unity” and also “reaffirmed the party’s earlier agreement on the zoning of party positions allotted to the South-East in respect of the forthcoming elective national convention.”

Also, PDP governors and National Assembly members from the zone were mandated to discuss with the other geopolitical zones in the country to arrive at an understanding towards the emergence of the party’s next national chairman.

Umahi further disclosed that the zonal leadership were fully behind the party’s governorship candidate in the forthcoming Anambra State governorship election, Oseloka Obaze, and his running mate, Mrs. Chidi Onyemelukwe.
