2019: INEC inaugurates 16-member Election Project Plan Committee

INEC to decide on 95 new political parties seeking registration on Wednesday

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has inaugurated a 16-member Election Project Plan Committee (EPPC) with the mandate to coordinate its preparations for the 2019 elections.

This was disclosed in a statement signed and released on Thursday by the chairman of INEC Information and Voter Education Committee, Adedeji Soyebi.

Soyebi also said that the commission has approved the 2017 – 2021 strategic plan for immediate implementation, following approval by stakeholders.

Terms of reference of the EPPC are given as:
1. Coordinate all Departmental and State inputs into the planning of elections
2. Monitor the performance of the two-year budget estimates for the general elections, identify gaps and advise the commission appropriately
3. Produce a comprehensive, valued Election Project Plan (EPP) for the Commission’s approval
4. Ensure the integration of the EPP and the EMS for effective implementation and monitoring
5. Provide quarterly progress report on the implementation of the EPP up to the Election Day.

5. Mohammad Kuna, Special Adviser to Hon. Chairman (Member)
6. Rotimi Oyekanmi, CPS to Hon. Chairman (Member)
7. Abubakar Momoh, Director General, Electoral Institute (Member)
8. A.T Yusuf, Director, Operations (Member)
9. Chidi Nwafor, Director ICT (Member)
10.Iro Gambo, Director, Voter Registry (Member)
11.Aminu Idris, Director, EPM (Member)
12.Oluwatoyin Babalola, Director, Legal Services (Member)
13.Ruth Endeley, Director, Estate & Works (Member)
14.Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, Director, Voter Education & Publicity (Member)
15.Kenneth Ukeagu, Director, Procurement (Member)
16.Ndeche Okechukwu, Director, Planning & Monitoring (Secretary)

Inaugurating the committee during a brief ceremony, INEC chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, called on the members to instantly dedicate themselves to their duties and make sure that the 2019 general elections are better than the previous ones.
