The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday said that it had commenced profiling of more than 800,000 registered Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of Fulani herdsmen attacks in Benue State who would not be able to return to their ancestral homes to exercise their franchise during next year’s general election.

Besides, the the commission said it would create what it called Activity Voting Points (AVPs) for the victims across the eight IDPs camps to avoid cases of disenfranchisement of eligible IDPs.

INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, disclosed this to New Telegraph in Makurdi.

Yilwatda said aside the creation of the AVPs; commission had also created registration centres in designated camps after consultation with relevant stakeholders, including SEMA, NEMA, the affected local government areas, chief security officers and the state government where a road map for the registration centres topped discussions.
