2019: Kaduna APC files behind Ebonyi, endorses Buhari for another term

The Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari to fly the party’s ticket in the 2019 presidential election.

The Ebonyi State chapter of the party had also recently held a rally Abakaliki the state capital in support for the second term for President Buhari, who recently returned from a-103-day medical vacation in the United Kingdom, for an undisclosed ailment.

The Ebonyi State APC acting state chairman, Mr Eze Nwachukwu in making the declaration of support, had said, “We have witnessed tremendous live-transforming programmes and policies which are impacting positively on the lives of the ordinary citizens, including job creation, economic repositioning, infrastructure, anti-graft and fight against insecurity, among others”.

Similarly, the Kaduna State chapter of the party, at a stakeholders meeting with party excos from the 255 electoral wards in Kaduna at the weekend, said it “endorsed the duo of President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Nasir El-Rufai for the 2019 elections, without prejudice to the right of other party members to seek these offices in 2019”.

This was stated in a communique issued after the meeting and signed by Hon. Samaila Suleiman, Member representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency; Hon. John Audu Kwaturu, Deputy Speaker, Kaduna State House of Assembly; Hon. Yahaya Baba Pate, Acting Secretary, APC Kaduna State and Lanti Halima Hyet, Former IMC Chair, Jaba LGA

The meeting had in attendance, the Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, Senator Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi, the senator representing Kaduna North Senatorial District, members of the House of Representatives and the Kaduna State House of Assembly, and political appointees at both federal and state levels.

The state Acting chairman, Alhaji Shuaibu Idris, who presided over the meeting, said the party will discipline and sanction members that are working against the APC’s progress and unity.

Governor El-Rufai on his part, apologized for any offense that any government or party official may have caused to any party member, and stressed the need for members not to settle differences through media confrontation.

The communique also stated that “it was also resolved unanimously that there is only one APC leadership in Kaduna State under the leadership of its Acting chairman, Alhaji Shuaibu Idris;

Governor Richard Okoracha had also recently declared the support of the South East region for a second term for Buhari when he said, “We are going to support President Muhammadu Buhari for the eight years he is going to lead the nation. This is the time for Ndi-Igbo to come and work together. We are also going to use the Anambra election to show that APC has arrived South-East. The Igbo played bad politics in 2015. Today, we have lost a lot. We are not anywhere because of our bad politics.”

All these are coming at a time one of Buhari’s Ministers, Aisha Alhassan however declared that she would not support him if he decides to seek a second term, and if former Vice President Atiku Abubakar also decides to run for the presidency.
