2019: See full list of 153 aspirants in battle for APC gov tickets in 29 states

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, 153 governorship aspirants are set to battle for the tickets of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 29 states of the federation.

Governorship primaries will hold in 26 states and not 36 because there will not be gubernatorial elections in Anambra, Bayelsa, Edo, Ondo, Kogi, Ekiti and Osun states. These states have off season governorship election cycles as polls are conducted separately in each of them at the appropriate time.

The states of the six geo-political zones, and aspirants are as follows:

South –South has 17 aspirants shared among five states.

Akwa Ibom State has four aspirants -H.E. Obong Nsima Ekere, Senator John Akpan Udoedeghe, Dan Abia, and Dr. Edet Okon Efretui.

Delta State has four aspirants – Professor Pat Utomi, Dr. (Hon). Cairo Ojougbo, Rt. (Hon.) Victor Ochei, and Chief Great Ovdje Ogboru.

Cross River State has five aspirants – Pastor Usani Uguru Usani, Senator John Owan Enoh, High Chief Edem Duke, John Upan Odey, and Professor Nyong Eyo.

Rivers State four aspirants – Tonye Cole, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, Dumo Lulu Briggs and Dr. Dawari George.

South East has 30 aspirants from four states.

Abia State has seven – Dr. Uche Ogah, High Chief Ikechi Emenike, H.E. Comrade Chris Akomas, Rt. Hon. Martins Azubuike, Barr. Friday Nwosu, Esq, Prince Amb. Okey Emucha, and Prince Paul Ikonn.

Ebonyi State nine aspirants – Senator Sunny Ogbuoji, Arc. Dr. Edward Nkweagu, Senator Emmanuel Agboti, Obasi Ogbonnaya Obasi, Hon. Kelechi Chima, Engr. Paul Okorie, Comrade Christain, Chief Austine Igwe Edeze, and Professor Benard Odoh.

Enugu State five aspirants – Senator Ayogu Eze, Ifeanyi Nwaoga, Akubue Augustine, Ben Eche, and George Ogara.

Imo State nine aspirants – Senator Hope Uzodinma, Hon. Uche Nwosu, H.E. Prince Eze Madumere, Jude Ejiogu, Chima Anozie, Dr. Chris Emenike Nlemoha, Eche George Ezenna, Chukwudi Celestine Ololo and Air Commodore Peter Gbujie.

South West has a total of 16 aspirants shared among three states.

Lagos State has three -Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, Dr. Kadir Obafemi Hamzat, and Jide Sanya-Olu.

Oyo State has seven, Niyi Akintola, SAN, H.E. Christopher Alao Akala, Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, Dr. Olusola Ayandele, Dr. Owolabi Babalola, Dr. Azeez Popoola Adeduntun and Adebayo Adekola Adelabu.

Ogun State has six- Jimi Lawal, Dapo Abiodun, Bimbo Ashiru, Senator Adegbenga Kaka, Kunle Akinlade and Abayomi Semako Koroto Hunye.

North West has 20 aspirants shared among seven states.

Kaduna State one, Governor Nasir Ahmed el-Rufai.

Kano State one, Governor  Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Jigawa State has two aspirants, Governor Abubakar Badaru and Hashim Ubale.

Katsina State has three, Governor Aminu Masari, Abubakar Ismaila Isa and Garba Sani Dankani

Kebbi State has only Governor Atiku Bagudu.

Sokoto State four, Abubakar Abdullahi Gumbi, Farouk Malami Yabo, Ahmed Aliyu             and Sen. Abubakar Umar Gada.

Zamfara State has nine: Dauda Lawal, Mukhtar Idris Shehu, Brig. Gen. Mansur Ali, Ustaz Ibrahim Mohammed Wakala, Senator  Kabiru Marafa, Mahmuda Aliyu Shinkafi, Aminu Sani Jaji, Engr. Abubakar Magaji and Mohammed Sagir Hamidu.

North Central 18 shared among five states.

Benue State six Dr. Hon. Emmanuel Jime, Titus T. Zam, Akange Audu, Arc. Aema Achado, Benjamin Tilley Adanyi and Micheal Iordye.

Nasarawa State has 10 Sule Audu, Silas Agara, Aliyu Wadada, Zakari Idde, Hassan M. Liman, Mohammed Musa Maikaya, Arc. Shehu Tukur, Dauda Shuaibu Kigbu, Dr. James Angbazo, and Jafar Mohammed Ibrahim .

Niger State has only Governor Sani Bello.

Plateau State has Governor Simon Lalong.

North East has 52 aspirants shared among six states.

Adamawa State three, Governor Mohammed Jibrilla, Nuhu Ribadu and Mahmood Halilu Ahmed.

Bauchi State has four; Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, Dr. Ali Pate, Captain Bala Jibrin and Dr. Yakubu Lame.

Borno State has 21 aspirants, Kashim Imam, Babagana Umaru, Gambo Lawan, Mustapha Baba Shehu, Umaru Kumalia, Muhammad Aba Lima, Kaka Shehu Lawan, Adamu Dibal, Mustapha Fannarambe, Mohammed Jafaru, Sen. Baba Kaka Bashir Garba, QS Mohammed Makinta, Babagana Tijjani, Adamu Alhaji Lawan, Mai Sherrif, Abba Jato, Attom Magira Tom, Umar Alkali, Baba Ahmed Jidda, Idris Mamman Gatumbwa and Sen. Abubakar Kyari.

Gombe State has nine, Mohammed Jibrin Barde, Ibrahim Dasuki Jalo, Mohammadu Inuwa Yahaya, Kamisu Ahmed Mailan, Umaru Kwairanga, Abubakar Muazu Hassan, Umar Farouk Musa, Sen. Idris Audu Umar and Aliyu Haidar Abubakar.

Taraba State has 11 aspirants. They are Sani Abubakar Danladi, Sen. Joel Danlami Ikenya, Garba Umar-UTC, Prof. Mohammed Sanni Yahaya, Comrade Bobboi Bala Kaigama, Aliyu Omar, Chief Ezekiel Afunkuyo, Chief David Sabo Kente, Mohammed Tumba Ibrahim, Kabiru Umaru and Aliyu Omar.

Yobe State has four, Mai Mala Buni, Umar Ali Kromchi, Sidi Yakubu and Ali Kolomi.

According to the APC National Working Committee (NWC) direct primaries will be used in 17 states of Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Cross River, Edo, Ekiti, Imo, Kano, Lagos, Niger, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Taraba, Zamfara and the FCT.

In 19 states which include Adamawa, Benue, Borno, Delta, Ebonyi, Enugu, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto, and Yobe, APC said that indirect primaries will be used.
