2019: ‘You have my blessings’, Babangida tells Tambuwal
Former head of state, Ibrahim Babangida has expressed support for Aminu Tambuwal, Governor of Sokoto State, on his presidential bid.
Babangida said Tambuwal has his blessings as he seeks the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 presidential election.
The General said this when he hosted Tambuwal and his team at his residence in Minna, the Niger State capital, on Saturday.
He described Tambuwal as a prepared politician who understands the challenges of the country.
The former military said, “I am very proud that you belong to the generation that want to keep Nigeria as one. You have a good team to keep that; I have no doubt that Nigerians will give you the opportunity to put these good ideas for the good of the country,” he said.

“You know the country, you understand the challenges of the country. I trust you will work base on your conviction for this country.
“You have my blessings and I will keep monitoring to ensure you don’t deviate.”
On his part, Tambuwal vowed that he will assemble the best team to turn around the economy of the country and restore the confidence of Nigerians in government.
Several PDP presidential aspirants have so far paid visits to the former head of state, with him expressing similar words of support for their ambition.
