Man sentenced to 10yrs in prison for stabbing brother to death

The long arm of the law has caught up with a 25-year-old man identified as Agaezichi Ogbonna who allegedly killed his 52-year-old mother who chided him for impregnating his cousin.

Reports say the suspect who hails from Akpaa Mbato village in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State had been constantly accused of having sexual affairs with sisters of the same parents at his maternal home.

According to a source in the know, the suspect ignored the warning of the community to discontinue sleeping with one of his cousins simply identified as Ugochi, but he ended up killing his mother who was vocal about his incestuous act.

The source said; “Ogbonna’s mother who was managing her high blood pressure condition angered by the son’s action and the negative effect his abominable act would bring to the family, decided to raise the alarm after she noticed that her son was sleeping with Ugochi.

“In the heat of an argument with the mother, Ogbonna kicked her on her ribs which aggravated her health condition. She was said to have collapsed and died shortly afterwards when some members of the family who came to her rescue tried to stabilise her.”

Reports say the Ogbonna was almost lynched to death by angry youths in the community who frowned at his action but was saved by the timely intervention of soldiers attached to a nearby checkpoint.

The arrest of Ogbonna was confirmed by a senior police officer at the Azuka Police Station in Aba who revealed that the suspect was brought to the station by the soldiers in a Hilux van after he was rescued from the clutches of the angry mob.
