26 Coptic Christians gunned down by unknown assailants in Egypt

A bus carrying Coptic Christians in Egypt was attacked by gunmen in Minya province, who killed no less than 26 passengers and wounded dozens of other victims who have been rushed to hospital.

An Egyptian ministry spokesman said security chiefs had arrived at the scene of the attack and had cordoned off the area.

The bus came under fire on Friday while travelling on the road to the St. Samuel Monastery in the Minya province, about 220km south of the capital, Cairo, health officials said.

The interior ministry said at least 26 people were killed and 25 wounded in the attack as there is no immediate claim of responsibility for the incident.
