Ugochukwu Obah, 28, appeared at the Ojo Magistrates’ Court, Lagos on Tuesday for beating his neighbour, Abosede Sunday, to a pulp, over an argument which later snowballed into a brawl.

According to the report published in the Vanguard, efforts by other tenants to settle the dispute proved abortive as the accused jerked up the complainant and beat her to pulp.

While addressing the court, Inspector Uche Simon, the Prosecutor, said the accused, who entered a not-guilty plea, committed the offence on Nov. 2 at his residence while also noting that the offence contravened Section 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011, which prescribes three-year jail term for assault occasioning harm.

Before adjourning the case to January 10th for further hearing, Magistrate A.A. Paul granted the accused N50, 000 bail while also granting Obah one surety as part of the bail conditions.
