28-yr-old teacher reprimanded in prison for raping pupil

A secondary school teacher, Idowu Daniel, has been repremanded in prison custody for allegedly defiling a 17-year-old student of the school where he teaches Computer Science.

Daniel, who was arrested by policemen from Isokoko Division, Agege, Lagos, was arraigned on a one count charge of defilement before an Ogba Magistrate Court.

The charge read: “That you, Idowu Daniel, on June 27, 2019, at 9.25 am in the Biology lab, at Anatasia Comprehensive College, Abule-Egba, Lagos State, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did unlawfully defile a 17-year-old girl by inserting your penis into her vagina, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015,”

The presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs O. Sule-Amzat, who did not take the defendant’s plea, held that the case file should be forwarded to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.

She also ordered the accused to be reminded in prison custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice, while adjourning the case till October 21, 2019.
