3 dead, houses razed as gunmen attack Benue community

Fresh attack on Tse-Chia village by gunmen near Kasar in Zaki-Biam witnessed the killing of three people and the razing of houses and property.

The incident is coming five days after some invaders attacked and killed several people in Zaki-Biam, headquarters of Ukum Local Government Area, Benue State.

According to reports, the gunmen were alleged to be on a reprisal mission after they identified the driver of the vehicle, which the Monday invaders used to attack the Zaki-Biam International Yam Market and its environs, to have come from Tse-Chia village.

“You know that the Monday attack was in broad daylight and many people identified the driver of one of the vehicles that was used for that mission. So, some of those who lost their relatives in the attack staged a reprisal on that village and many people were killed,” a source said.

Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Moses Yamu, who confirmed the Tse-Chia attack, however said that three people were killed after the attackers stormed the village.

The State PPRO also stressed that the attack was not carried out by herdsmen as was insinuated in some quarters.

“It was not an attack by herdsmen, but criminal minded people were behind the attack for whatever sinister reasons. The invaders stormed the village about 1am last Friday and set four houses ablaze. Three persons were burnt to death in one of the houses.”

The PPRO, noted that preliminary investigation showed that the young man who drove one of the vehicles used in the Monday attack was identified to have hailed from that village.

He also called for calm stressing that policemen were already patrolling the entire area to forestall any violence.

Well I am sure, the police are concealing the truth. These criminals are herdsmen but because they don’t want to loud it, they said they are just criminals.

They are on their own. For them to have said they were not herdsmen, then they were. The Fulani are the cankerworm destroying the peace of this nation. And those three people who died now are gone without no compensation for their lives and they could be the breadwinners of their family. What a cruel world!

You are a complete mad lady. Do you have to attribute all evil to the Fulani? You Yorubas are worst and it is what you see, you see, what of those you don’t see or hear about?

What were the policemen doing when the attack occurred? There’s been no report that policemen were at the location where the killings occurred to curtail the incident. All Nigeria police do is to confirm brutal incidents like reporters, they are not capable of preventing such occurrences
