A tragic scene played out in the Canadian capital of Ottawa when a moving bus crashed into a bus shelter claiming the lives of three victims and leaving nearly two dozen others injured.

According to reports, the incident occurred during rush hour at the busy transit station in the west end of the city.

“It is with deep sadness that I report there were three confirmed casualties, two of which were on the bus and one that was on the platform,” Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson told reporters at a news conference late on Friday.
