The escape of no less than three armed robbers from the custody of the Anambra State Police Command has triggered a manhunt for the criminals.

Reports say residents of Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State were thrown into panic after news of the escape of the robbery suspects was broken.

According to reports, the suspects identified as Olisa Dominic, Friday Nwali and Nwanosike Isaac, were reportedly arrested by a vigilance group in the area and were handed over to the police before they escaped.

A witness who pleaded anonymity said residents of the area are living in fear after the escape of the robbery suspects.

“We are living in fear and danger now. We can’t understand how some suspects arrested by our vigilantes would escape after they were duly handed over to the police.

“Something is wrong somewhere. We no longer sleep with our eyes fully closed because anything can happen anytime. We don’t know who to trust again,” the source stated.

In his reaction, Mr Garba Umar, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, said he had directed immediate investigation into the escape of the three robbery suspects.
