30 Anglophone separatists killed in Cameroon as clashes intensify in English-speaking region

Clashes and unrest have intensified in the English-speaking region of Cameroon with military sources revealing that no less than 30 people have been killed.

A military spokesman Colonel Didier Badjeck revealed that the separatists were killed after two days of conflict in the Anglophone region.

Colonel Badjeck also noted that army also freed people held by separatists during its two-day operation in the Mayo Binka area near Nkambe.

In a separate incident, the mayor of Nwa, a local council in the same region, was killed by suspected separatists, Emmanuel Bunyui, mayor of the nearby town of Ndu, told the Associated Press.

“When we hoist the Cameroon flag in the council premises, we are targeted by the armed men who insist that we should instead display their blue and white flag,” Bunyui said.
