‘How virtual reality will change the world’

The President of the worldwide studios for Oculus VR Jason Rubin has revealed how virtual reality is about to change the way we do things going into the future.
Oculus VR, the much-hyped virtual reality company owned by Facebook will release its Oculus Rift headset to the public this year for the first time ever, and it can be pre-ordered.

Rubin says the initial content will be entertainment based, from video games to immersive experiences. But he also says the use for VR will go far beyond, into science, training, psychology and much more.

Much as the smartphone started a simple replacement for the cell phones of yore before expanding its potential, Rubin believes VR will have a similarly widespread impact on the real world in years to come.

“VR is the future,” he said. “In the near future, real estate developers might soon be using VR technology to make tours easier and more efficient. As the technology improves, so too will its applications.

“Uses of VR are endless and easy to imagine: education in virtual environments, defense training, engineering virtual factories, healthcare, communications, you name it. All that’s really missing is for the technology to be widely available, and that’s just around the corner.” He added.
