Dasukigate: How Jonathan’s ADC got in trouble

Published

on

More revelations have come to light as to why Col. Ojogbane Adegbe, the former Aide-De-Camp (ADC) to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan was arrested in Lagos on Wednesday on his return from a training programme in Britain, and is being detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Adegbe who is presently undergoing the senior military training programme in the United Kingdom, was recalled to answer to issues related to his tenure as ADC to former President Jonathan but was not told what the issues were.

Ripples Nigeria gathered, that his detention is in connection to the disbursement of more than N10 billion oil proceeds to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nomination convention delegates. Himself and another aide to Jonathan, Waripamowei Dudafa, former Special Assistant on Domestic Affairs, who is presently on the run, are said to have collected $47m and some Euros, amounting to about N10 billion, in cash, from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

The N10billion is believed to have been diverted from oil receipts as follows: USD5.0M (November 14, 2014); $47m ( November 27, 2014); Euro 4.0M (December 3, 2014) and Euro 1.6M(December 24, 2014).

Both men are said to have been fingered by Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.) in his statement to the EFCC filed before a Federal High Court hearing the corruption case preferred against him by the Federal Government.

Dasuki had said in the statement: “That I am aware in November (I cannot remember the exact date), my office requested the CBN to exchange N10billion from the account of the Office of National Security Adviser domiciled in CBN.

“The money was exchanged at $47m and some Euros, which I cannot remember. The exact amount was delivered at my residence. The money was for delegates that attended the convention for the PDP Presidential nomination. The money was paid and sent to (Waripamowei) Dudafa (SSAP Household) and ADC (C-I-C) for distribution on the instruction of the President.

“Based on the statement of Director of Finance and Administration (Salisu), Ibrahim Wambai, and Yazidu Ibrahim, all the cash (both foreign and local) are usually given to them for official use.”

Dudafa is believed to be either in Dubai or somewhere on the Caribbean Islands, Adegbe is being held at the Mogadishu Cantonment.
