Pastor Adeboye’s Son Leke declares war on Daddy Freeze

The General Overseer (GO) of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye has retired after 35 years reign.

The respected cleric retired on Saturday and Pastor Joshua O. Obayemi took his position as the new RCCG GO.

Obayemi, who was the former Special Assistant to the General Overseer (SATGO) on Finance, was said to have been appointed as the new GO of the church at the Annual Ministers Thanksgiving at Shimawa, in Ogun State.

The former GO is said to have also appointed Pastor Johnson Odesola, who was the Special Assistant on Administration and Personnel, as the church Secretary.

Adeboye joined RCCG in 1973 and began working to translate the sermons of its then Pastor and founder, Rev. Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi from Yoruba into English and was in 1981 appointed the GO of the church.

He succeeded the late founder of the church, Papa Akindayomi, who was deceased the previous year.

Papa Adeboye was born on March 2, 1942, in Ifewara, Osun State and had his B.Sc. in Mathematics at University of Nigeria Nsukka. He later got his PhD in applied mathematics from the University of Lagos and was Mathematics lecturer at the universities of Lagos and Ilorin.

Adeboye who continued his teaching work as a lecturer after becoming RCCG GO finally gave up his university position to become a full-time priesthood in 1984.
