36 days after closure, FAAN begins rehabilitation of Enugu Airport runway

Nigerian govt to unveil name of new national airline in London

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) on Sunday said it has started rehabilitation of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu runway.

FAAN had 36 days ago, on August 24, announced the closure of the airport to enable rehabilitation work on its runway.

But Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, general manager, Corporate Affairs, FAAN, on Sunday confirmed to the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos that the rehabilitation work in the airport had commenced.

The airport remains the only international airport in the South East region.

The federal government had while closing the airport announced December 2019, as the deadline for the completion of the runway repairs as well as other repair works.
