After over 40 days in DSS custody, Ifeanyi Ubah regains freedom

The managing director of Capital Oil and Gas Limited, Ifeanyi Ubah, may have been released after spending over 40 days in the custody of the Department of State Security (DSS).

Ubah was arrested between May 5 and 6 and has remained in DSS custody with efforts to release him being frustrated by conflicting court judgments.

While a court in Lagos ruled for his release, another court in Abuja ruled otherwise, granting DSS leave to still keep him in its custody.

However, yet to be confirmed reports said that Ubah was finally freed on Monday night unconditionally after a “No Case” was allegedly established in his alleged fraud involving products belonging to the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

Ubah was accused of stealing NNPC petrol kept in his tank farm in Lagos valued at over N11 billion.
