Court to try Kanu

Wild jubilation followed the announced release of leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu in Anambra State after the decision of a Federal High Court to unconditionally free the leader.

But celebrations went awry when gunshots by soldiers attached to the 302 Artillery Regiment reportedly killed 5 persons and injuring 25 others.

The soldiers on guard apparently thought the IPOB supporters were protesting the continued detention of their leader not knowing that they were actually celebrating the latest development.

Eyewitnesses say the unfortunate incident occurred around the River Niger bridge in Onitsha causing panic among commuters and motorist as palpable fear pervaded the air in the bustling city.

Mr. Rabiu Garba, the divisional police officer in charge of the area, when contacted said he was not in town, though he was told of the procession.

This brings the number of IPOB related deaths to 14. Our military can blatantly slaughter 14 unarmed, harmless citizens for holding an ideology that irks the FG, but they cannot deal with real enemies of the state like BH. Boko Haram has become larger than life because of the moral weakness of our military. Simple. All this talk of inadequate weapons are just secondary excuses. An army without discipline will lose any war, with or without super weapons.
