Lionel Messi scored the 50th hat-trick of his career as Barcelona came from behind to beat Sevilla and go 10 points clear at the top of La Liga.

the Argentine forward has scored 650 goals in his career for Barcelona and Argentina.

The treble takes the Barca captain up to 25 La Liga goals for the season, and nine clear of Luis Suarez in second place.

Messi, 31, scored his first of the day when he equalised Navas’ 22nd-minute opener with a brilliant volley in the 26th minute.

Sevilla got into the lead again through Gabriel Mercado’s eight-yard finish just before the break, but Messi levelled for a second time with a curling shot from the edge of the box on 67 minutes.

The Argentine superstar then chipped Tomas Vaclik for his third, before setting up Luis Suarez for an injury-time fourth to seal victory.

Messi has now scored 36 goal in 35 games against Sevilla.

Also, his third goal on Saturday was his 650th career strike – 585 for Barca and 65 for Argentina.

With the win, Barcelona extended their lead over second-placed Atletico Madrid, who host Villarreal on Sunday.
