The board of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has given a seven–day ultimatum to the Technical Department to recommend another foreign Manager for the Super Eagles.

The NFF on Wednesday rose from a board meeting stating that it was not possible to employ a coach without a target to work with and also without stating clearly areas of development which would be beneficial to the country.

This followed the shocking refusal of Paul Le Guen to accept the conditions of the NFF even after the federation had named him as the new coach of the Super Eagles.

According to a five-point communiqué signed by Suleiman Yahaya-Kwande, Chairman of the communiqué drafting committee, “The board ruled that within the next seven (7) days, the technical committee should recommend a candidate for the post of Technical Adviser of the Super Eagles.

It noted that the refusal of Mr. Paul Le Guen, earlier recommended by the Sub –Committee, to accept to be given targets as well as unwillingness to live in Nigeria, made his candidature unacceptable to the Board.”

The board further resolved that any candidate that would be so recommended by the Technical Sub –Committee must have accepted to be handed targets and must also be willing to live in Nigeria. In addition, such a candidate must agree to undergo other internal evaluation.

Also at the meeting, the NFF executive committee approved that henceforth, only the Head Coaches of the various National Teams will be on monthly salary while assistant coaches will receive only bonuses and allowances. The assistant coaches currently in the NFF’s employ have been given till the end of this year to secure substantive employment elsewhere.

The board also approved the appointment of Mr. Salisu Yusuf as Chief Coach of the Super Eagles and Head Coach of the CHAN team. Mr. Imama Amakapabo will serve as Assistant Coach and Mr. Alloy Agu as Goalkeepers’ Trainer.

Also approved was the recommendation for Mr. Bitrus Bewarang to become the new National Technical Director. He replaces the late Coach Shaibu Amodu. The board also approved that Mr. Nduka Ugbade return to the U-17 National Team as Assistant Coach.
