Oyo govt says ‘no casualty’ from Molete building collapse

Six persons were trapped on Wednesday under a collapsed four-storey building at No. 7, Ezenwa Street, Onitsha, Anambra state.

According to sources, the building which was under construction collapsed at 1:45p.m. with six labourers, including the site engineer inside while a rescue team on site was left helpless with no equipment to undertake their operation.

During a rescue exercise, the Divisional Police Officer for Onitsha Central Police Station, Ifeanyi Iburu, led a team of security operatives to the scene.

Confirming the incident, the chairman, Red Cross Society in Anambra State, Prof. Peter Katchy, said the rescued victims had been rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

He added that one of the persons rescued by Red Cross is in the intensive care unit at Holy Rosary Hospital Waterside, Onitsha while another was receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Onitsha.
