7 dead as Boko Haram gunmen storm Borno town

Boko Haram insurgents continued their reign of terror in the Northeast of Nigeria, as seven people were left dead after the terrorists stormed Rann in Kalabalge district, Borno State, in the early hours of Saturday.

Rann is near the Nigerian border with Cameroon.
According to fleeing residents, gunmen on motorcycles stormed the town and opened fire on homes.

A resident, Abba Abiso, said the insurgents opened fire on their homes while they were sleeping and killed seven people before carting away food supplies and drugs from the only clinic in the town.

He stated further that the gunmen remained in the town for about two hours before leaving.
According to him, the residents have fled into Cameroon and Gamboru, which is 28 kilometres from Rann.

Another resident Ari Ngamsu, said: “The Boko Haram gunmen planted two high calibre explosives on the way outside the town but soldiers from Gamboru succeeded in defusing them at daybreak.”
