7 habits to stay away from if you want a clean, clear skin

We all want our skin to look perfect, but there are certain habits that we need to give up, in order to get healthier and happier complexion.

Listed below are seven habits to stay away from if you want a clean and clear skin.

1) Harsh cleansing: You might think that the cleaner your skin is – the better. Well, partially, this is true; but if you treat your skin “unkindly”, harshly rubbing and over-exfoliating it – all this can cause more harm than good.

2) Alcohol abuse: It’s totally ok to have a glass of red wine once in a while, but abusive cocktails drinking, tequilas, margaritas and martinis every day can tremendously affect your skin’s quality, and this – not for good! Alcohol abuse can lead to skin’s inflammation, redness, premature aging, skin’s sagging and other undesirable results.

3) Neglecting to wash your makeup brushes regularly: Make sure to wash your makeup brushes every 1, 2 or 3 weeks (depending on your preferences; some people wash brushes after every use), this will help keep the bacteria at bay; if you neglect this simple beauty necessity, you can end up with clogged pores, break outs and irritations on your face.

4) Eating junk food: Yes, what you eat affects your skin’s condition. Try to skip junk food and sugary soda drinks for couple of weeks and make healthier diet choices instead (such as whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, etc); you will see how much better and clearer your skin will look.

5) Sun overexposure: Tanned, sun kissed skin might look pretty, but, if you exaggerate with it, sun overexposure can lead to premature aging, wrinkles, sun spots and, in some cases, to cancer. Therefore, if you want to look like a sun kissed goddess, use self tanners instead.

6) Effects of smoking: Well, not only smoking can affect your complexion and can make your skin look dull, but also, smoking promotes the development of wrinkles and can be harmful for your overall health. Therefore, if you want your skin to look great and youthful, avoid smoking by all means.

7) Forgetting about your décolletage while applying skin care products: Did you know that your neck and chest need care, hydration and nourishment, as much as your face does. Therefore, next time you’ll apply your skin care products, extend everything into your décolletage area (also, don’t neglect your body lotion and moisturize your whole body), thus, making sure that your skin will look flawless and healthy from head to toe.
